Mohs Micrographic Surgery is a specialised, tissue sparing, and highly effective technique for the removal of skin cancers. It is typically used for skin cancers located in cosmetically sensitive areas and where functional tissue preservation is paramount. Mohs surgery differs from other skin cancer treatments in that the tumor is mapped, there is the immediate and complete microscopic examination of all removed cancerous tissue and the entire surgical margin, so that every extension of the cancer can be eliminated to confirm tumor clearance. Other available surgical methods only examine a fraction of the removed tissue, which may result in a lower cure rate. Due to the methodical manner in which tissue is removed and comprehensively examined, Mohs surgery is recognised as the skin cancer treatment with the highest reported cure rate, and a low recurrence rate compared to other treatment modalities. Additionally, because this is a tissue sparing technique, the least amount of normal tissue is removed.

Dr Llorca offers online videoconference appointments. In some cases a face to face follow-up appointment may be needed.
