Diagnostic Imaging / Ultrasound

English speaking ultrasound services in central Valencia, Spain

Dr. Salvador Miralles runs a very effective diagnostic ultrasound service. Our most requested exams are cervical ultrasound, thyroid ultrasound, abdominal ultrasound, breast ultrasound, urinary tract ultrasound, testicular ultrasound, Echo-Doppler of the lower limb, Echo-Doppler of the supra-aortic vessels, and musculoskeletal ultrasound.

Ultrasound technologies employ sound waves to visualize body tissues. Problems with organs, vessels, and tissues could be detected without needing to make an incision.

Ultrasound scanning is used in a variety of diagnostic procedures, from assessing the risk of heart disease, assessing arterial thickening, and blockages in arteries and veins in the lower limbs, to the investigation of the reproduction system. The renal tract, liver, and even musculoskeletal and sports injuries can all utilize ultrasound scanning technology.

Abdominal Ultrasound is used to diagnose multiple conditions. The main organs visualized with ultrasound in the upper abdomen are: the liver, the gallbladder, the pancreas, the kidneys and the spleen.
This is a combination of an abdominal ultrasound and a urinary tract ultrasound. It requires 4-5 hours fasting, AND to avoid passing urine for 3h.
A liver ultrasound is a safe and quick scan that uses sound waves to produce detailed images of your liver. These images can be analyzed by a radiologist to help check for liver conditions like fatty liver and hepatocellular carcinoma.

A renal ultrasound produces images of your kidneys

It lets us check the size, shape and health of the kidneys, and can help us to diagnose a range of conditions, like kidney stones or cysts.
Musculoskeletal scans can evaluate shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, hips, knees, ankles and feet. Ultrasound is a dynamic examination, and therefore the muscles, tendon, and soft tissue can be evaluated in real time and under movement.
Ultrasounds can image the body in greater spatial detail than MRI and can image parts of the body whilst they are in motion to provide more information. Because of its ability to image moving objects, ultrasound can be used to guide injections into muscles or joints with high precision for maximum benefit.
Ultrasound is regularly being used to evaluate abdominal aortic aneurysms.
Frequently used if a lump has been found in the breast, ultrasounds use high frequency sound waves to detect what’s inside the breast. Ultrasounds can detect if these lumps are solid, or filled.
A thyroid ultrasound is used to diagnose and monitor thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer management.
A renal ultrasound is a simple scan that can be carried out to produce images of your bladder, kidneys, ureter, and prostate (in men). It lets us check the size, shape and health of these organs, and can help us to diagnose a range of conditions, like kidney stones, urinary incontinence and any narrowing of the ureter.
